We use mainly Erle, lime tree, maple and Kirschholz from Europe. Wood is a regenerating raw material that allows for various sensory experiences. It has a grain –shades of light and dark; hard and soft textures. It can be rough or smooth, it is warm and smells good. Wood sounds different, is times heavier and times lighter. Bacteria cannot increase on wood. If wood is broken it can be repaired. Wood is part of the nature cycle, which applies neither to plastics, or even to metal. Owing to the ecology movement and a new consciousness for the value of raw materials today wood is valued again as a naturally renewable resource after boom phases of the plastic. Toys made of wood experienced a true Renaissance in and the nineties eighties and up to today. This tendency strengthened still by the fact that primary schools, even kindergartens are now equipped with computers. Concentrating so early and almost exclusively on the cognitive aspects of the childlike development, one loses the true connections from the eye. Wood is also durable that through the hands from several brothers and sisters children and frequently even generations can be. The wood vices outlasts many plastic toys, which are cheaper, but sooner or later end up as landfill.
